The importance of using X-ray testing for steering knuckles

At Tianhe Casting Group, each of our steering knuckle products is individually x-rayed upon request. Why do we need to carry out nondestructive inspections on roughcast steering knuckles?

Secondly, we need to know why a damaged steering knuckle can lead to very serious consequences.

Steering knuckles are very strong. During normal use they will normally last the life of the vehicle. However, if you have a minor collision, hit a very large pothole or slide into a kerb, you can damage the knuckles. If a joint breaks, your vehicle will obviously be disabled.

When your steering knuckle is broken or bent, your vehicle may still appear to be drivable. But the reality is that you can't continue to drive.

This is because several things can go wrong: 1. The four-wheel alignment system will go haywire. This will lead to uneven tyre wear and poor handling. 2. The damaged section will exert additional pressure on the ball joint. The ball joint may suddenly break.

If a ball joint breaks, it will suddenly become very difficult to steer and the driver may lose control of the vehicle. This is obviously very dangerous. If damage to the steering joint is suspected, it should be checked immediately.
