Why do companies need to test the cleanliness of auto parts?

With the development trend of the automobile manufacturing industry and the development of parts cleaning technology, the cleanliness of auto parts is becoming more and more critical.

In the whole process of vehicle production, because the gas pollutants in the natural environment of warehouses and production workshops adhere to the parts' surface or enter the parts' interior, it will cause environmental pollution of parts.

The pollutants are generally metal material scraps, metal material powder, soot, chemical fibres, oil stains, etc.

If the cleanliness is not controlled in time, it will cause immediate damage to the characteristics and service life of the vehicle.

From the feedback from the field, especially in the automotive market, the immediate main manifestations are the initial wear of the diesel engine, the initial invalidity of the brake system oil circuit board, and the automobile steering system. Embrittlement, initial rust on the car surface, etc.

The earliest history of cleanliness examination was applied to the aerospace industry. In the early 1960s, the American Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the American Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics ( SAE ) began to use a unified cleanliness standard that was fully applied to the aerospace and automotive industries. The cleanliness of auto parts is a very important quality indicator.

Cleanliness refers to the degree of contamination of parts, assemblies and specific parts of the whole machine by impurities, indicating the amount of contamination remaining on the surface of parts or products after cleaning. It is represented by the mass, size and quantity of impurity particles collected from a specified characteristic site by a specified method.

The "predetermined part" refers to a characteristic part that endangers product reliability.

The "impurities" mentioned here include all the impurities remaining in the product itself, mixed with the outside world and generated by the system in the process of product design, manufacture, transportation, use and maintenance. If the cleanliness is not controlled in time, it will cause immediate damage to the characteristics and service life of the vehicle.

Why is the cleanliness inspection of auto parts so important? What will be the impact of contaminated auto parts?

 1. Camshafts, gears, chains and other parts that work in lubricating oil or in the oil pressurized area, especially those connected to high torque and high speed, may cause the entire system to fail once contaminant particles are generated.
 2. With the turbine spinning at thousands of revolutions per minute, any tiny particle can cause a devastating fracture.
 3. The presence of conductive particles on electronic systems can cause electrical shorts.
